Del Puerto Pathway to Health – February Campus Update

Del Puerto Pathway to Health / Paseo de Del Puerto hacia la Salud

February 25 update on the Patterson Healthcare Campus Project

February 2026 - CEO’s Message

Over the past several weeks, our team has been working closely with HDR, engineers, cost estimators, and City partners to finalize the technical components of the Del Puerto Health Care District Healthcare & Mixed-Use Campus Master Plan for formal submission to the City of Patterson. This includes confirming land use strategy, circulation design, zoning alignment, parking strategies, sustainability principles, infrastructure capacity, and phased development sequencing. The Master Plan outlines how our 38.5-acre campus will evolve over time, beginning with the Del Puerto Ambulance & Administration Center (DPAC) and the Combined Clinic, and expanding in phases to include senior living, a medical office building, and ultimately a hospital.

In parallel, we have advanced the 50% Schematic Design and Basis of Design documents for DPAC and the Combined Clinic to ensure alignment with California building standards, HCAI requirements, and City development expectations. These technical documents translate our vision into real-world specifications — from site engineering and utilities to architectural character and sustainability systems.

Submitting the Master Plan is a major milestone. It reflects months of collaborative planning and positions the District to move from concept into entitlement, environmental review, and phased implementation.

We are building this campus thoughtfully — integrating it into the fabric of Patterson, planning responsibly for future growth, and ensuring that healthcare access on the west side of Stanislaus County keeps pace with the community’s expansion.

The work this month represents disciplined progress. We are not just imagining the future of healthcare in Patterson — we are engineering it.

— Dr. Karin Freese, CEO of Del Puerto Health Care District

Community Engagement

Community connection continues to be a cornerstone of the Patterson healthcare campus. This month, DPHCD staff had the opportunity to share updates and engage in meaningful dialogue with two important local organizations: the Patterson Rotary Club and the Patterson-Westley Chamber of Commerce.

These presentations provided an opportunity to walk through the long-term vision for the campus, outline the phased development approach, and discuss how expanded access to medical and mental health services will benefit local families, businesses, and the broader community.

If your organization would like to learn more about the healthcare campus from DPHCD staff, please reach out to engage@dphealth.org to schedule a presentation.

New Resource: Questions We Are Answering For Our Community

We’ve launched a new webpage designed to share more about the “why” behind the Patterson campus and how DPHCD is bringing healthcare closer to home for Patterson residents.

Questions We Are Answering For Our Community

This resource walks through topics like community growth, mental health services, access to care, financial responsibility, long-term sustainability, and more.

We encourage community members to explore this page and share it with friends and neighbors who want to better understand the vision and planning behind the campus.

Save the date for the Stanislaus NAMI Walk on April 25!

DPHCD is proud to support the upcoming NAMI Walk, an event that brings the community together to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and support mental health services across our region.

This event is especially meaningful as we move forward with plans for the Combined Clinic, which includes behavioral health services, as part of the first phase of the Patterson healthcare campus. Expanding access to mental and behavioral health services is a core part of our mission, and the NAMI Walk reflects the same commitment to compassion, care, and community support.

This event reflects our shared commitment to expanding access to mental health education, support, and stigma-reduction programs across the west side of Stanislaus County. As part of this collaboration, DPHCD is serving as a local sponsor and active partner in outreach, planning, and community engagement. Importantly, this partnership also supports the development of our future Community Mental Health Clinic, expected to open in late 2028, by building early community awareness, strengthening referral pathways, and reducing stigma before the doors even open.

We encourage community members, families, and partners to mark their calendars and join us for this important event.
