June 2026 Update

June 2026 – CEO’s Message

Summer arrives with a full calendar and lots of momentum for Del Puerto Health Care District and the Patterson community!

Last month, our Del Puerto Health Center team provided free sports physicals to more than 200 Patterson High School student-athletes. The event took place right here in Patterson and was exactly what community healthcare is supposed to look like: accessible, local, and built around what our residents need. Moments like that one remind us why the work we are doing to expand healthcare on the West Side matters so deeply.

In Sacramento, AB 2282 continues to advance. The bill is now set for a hearing before the Senate Health Committee on July 1, and the coalition standing behind it has grown to include some of the most respected voices in our community — from our schools and fire departments to labor unions and local elected leaders.

We are proud to head into summer with so much in motion. As always, we are grateful for your trust and your partnership.

— Dr. Karin Freese, CEO of Del Puerto Health Care District

Community Healthcare in Action: Free Sports Physicals for Patterson High School Student Athletes

DPHCD provides 200 free sports physicals to PHS student athletes

Patterson High School student-athletes are kicking off their seasons and Del Puerto Health Center made sure they were ready to play.

On May 20, our team provided free sports physicals to more than 200 PHS students, right here in Patterson. No long drives. No out-of-pocket costs. Just quality care, close to home, for the families of the West Side.

This is what community healthcare looks like. DPHCD is proud to support local students and families as they look forward to their sports seasons in the coming school year.

AB 2282 Update: Senate Health Committee Hearing Set for July 1

The bill, authored by Assemblymember Juan Alanis, is scheduled for a hearing on July 1. If passed out of committee, it will continue moving through the Senate toward a floor vote.

As a reminder: AB 2282 would authorize Del Puerto Health Care District to operate a Rural Emergency Stabilization Care Unit, or RESCU — a 24/7 emergency stabilization facility staffed and operated by an existing licensed hospital — while our permanent healthcare campus is being built. For a community where the nearest ER is more than 18 miles away and every ambulance transport takes that unit out of service for nearly two hours, the RESCU represents a meaningful bridge between where we are today and the full hospital our community deserves.

The bill passed the full California Assembly unanimously. It now needs to clear the Senate.

Community members who want to show support ahead of the July 1 hearing are encouraged to reach out to us at engage@dphealth.org.

Patterson Unites Around AB 2282

Patterson is making its voice heard in Sacramento – the coalition behind AB 2282 reflects the full breadth of the Patterson community. Supporters include Patterson Joint Unified School District, the Stanislaus Latino Chamber of Commerce, NAMI Stanislaus, IAFF Local 4577, Patterson Mayor Mike Clauzel, the Patterson Fire Department, the Stanislaus County Deputy Sheriffs Association, and United Steelworkers District 12.

These organizations represent key constituencies in our community and having them unite around this issue is a signal to legislators and the Governor that AB 2282 is important to Patterson and should be important to them too.

DPHCD is grateful to every organization and individual who has lent their voice to this effort. If your organization would like to add its support, please contact us at engage@dphealth.org.

New Zone 1 Board Member Debbie Antigua

DPHCD is proud to welcome Debbie Antigua as the newest member of its Board of Directors, representing Zone 1.

Debbie brings more than 35 years of healthcare industry experience to the role, having spent her career supporting hospitals and health systems across Northern California. Her background spans supply chain management, regulatory compliance, and operational improvement.

She has called the San Joaquin Valley home for more than 30 years and relocated to Patterson's Diablo Grande community in 2021. Since then, she has stayed closely connected to local life, serving as President of the Diablo Grande HOA Board and leading the Diablo Grande Community Action Committee. She sees Patterson at a turning point — a growing community that deserves healthcare infrastructure to match — and is committed to bringing her decades of experience on behalf of the people DPHCD serves.

Debbie was nominated by Stanislaus County District 5 Supervisor Channce Condit. The Board is grateful to Supervisor Condit for the referral and looks forward to the contributions Debbie will make in the years ahead.
